Kobudo, “the old martial way,” is the art of ancient oriental weapons training, specifically from Okinawa. It involves such traditional weapons as the Bo, Sai, Nunchaku, Tonfa and Kama; as the Okinawan’s were not allowed to carry weapons, so they adapted farming equipment to defend themselves. The study of these weapons helps to develop an individual’s strength and coordination while fostering a deeper understanding of martial arts. Kobudo also gives practitioners the ability (and skill) to turn many everyday objects into weapons of defense.
The Kobudo program at the Martial Arts of the Palm Beaches is integrated into the Tae Kwon Do / Karate Do program, or can be taught on an individual basis or in group Private Lessons. Our instructors have personally studied many Kobudo styles with several senior masters. This provides for a unique blend of techniques and tools, and an excellent education in the advantages of weapons training.
